October 31, 2025 – Emporia State volleyball completed the season sweep of Northwest Missouri on Friday night, picking up the 3-1 road win over the Bearcats.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Throughout the first half of set one, Emporia State held a slim lead, as they held a 15-12 advantage over the Bearcats. Northwest Missouri rallied to eventually take a 21-18 advantage, forcing an Emporia State timeout. After facing set point trailing 24-1, the Hornets scored four straight and six of the next seven to take the first frame 27-25.
The Hornets jumped out to a 5-2 win early in the second set, before Northwest Missouri eventually pulled back level at 7-7. Neither team led the remainder of the set by more than two points, but the Bearcats were able to pull level in the match with a 25-23 set two win.
In set three, Emporia State trailed 9-7 early on before rallying to take the lead for good at 10-9. The Hornets would roll in the frame, sealing a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-18 set three win.
Set four was more of the same with a tightly contested frame. Emporia State held a narrow margin throughout, with Northwest Missouri trimming the Hornet lead to 19-18 late in the set to force a timeout. Following the timeout, the Hornets answered the call, scoring six of the last eight points to clinch set four 25-20 and seal the 3-1 win on Friday night in Maryville.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nyia Anderson led the Hornet attack with 22 kills on .306 hitting. The 22 kills for the outside hitter from Grand Prairie, Texas is a career high.
Emma Klett notched 14 kills, her sixth double-digit kill match this season and her third straight.
Brailee Bogle had 28 assists and
Delainee Dexter had 16 of her own while adding nine kills.
