March 26, 2022-Playing host to their second home meet in as many weeks, this time with over 1,100 competitors, Emporia State track and field had seven top three performances and three provisional qualifiers at the ESU Relays on the Golden Oval of Witten Track in Welch Stadium.  In the team standings Emporia State's women placed sixth out of 24 scoring teams while the Hornet men placed eighth out of 27 teams with a score.

The Emporia State women had two provisional qualifiers on Saturday to go with one from Friday. 

Megan McManis cleared 12-3.50 (3.75m) to finish fourth in the pole vault. It is her season's best and she is ranked 20^th in the nation as of Saturday night.

Holly Brockmeier tossed a provisional qualifier of 139-7 (42.54m) to place sixth in the javelin.  She is ranked 16^th in the nation as of Saturday night.

They joined Alyssa Conway who had a provisional qualifier of 177-10 (54.20m) in the hammer on Friday. She was already ranked sixth in the nation after her performance at the ESU Spring Invite last week.

Abigael Reid won the only event championship for Emporia State during the meet, finishing first in her first collegiate heptathlon on Friday. Although it is not a provisional qualifier, she is ranked sixth in the nation as of Saturday night.

The four some of Clarice Nichols, Ashley Wildeman, Kennedy Smith and Mason Bina had a second place finish with a time of 4:17.92 in the 1600m sprint medley relay.

Nathan Ewing had the best individual placing for the Emporia State men. He cleared 6-7.50 (2.02m) to finish as the runner-up in the high jump. He is ranked 16^th in the nation as of Saturday night.

The Hornets had three relay teams finish third during the meet.  Justyn France, Joshua Reuting, Luke Gleason, and Dominic Jackson ran 10:53.18 to place third in the distance medley relay on Friday night.

Brock Merz, Jake Johnson, Xavier Hall and France combined to run 3:35.01 and finish third in the 1600m sprint medley relay on Saturday. 

The Hornets ended the meet with a near provisional qualifier in the men's 4x400m relay. Guy Ramos, Jack Watson, Hayden Goodpaster and Juwan Johnson ran 3:14.14 to finish third. They missed the provisional mark by .09 seconds and are ranked sixth in the nation as of Saturday night.

There were a total of 69 marks that eclipsed the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in 32 different events throughout the three day meet.  A total of 13 marks are ranked in the top five in the nation as of Saturday night with three marks leading NCAA Division II. Missouri Southern's Kiara Smith's 13.78 in the women's 100m hurdles, Pittsburg State's Louis Rollins' 13.85 in the men's 110m hurdles and Lincoln's Maria Diamond's 59.81 in the women's 400m hurdles are all ranked #1 in the nation as of Saturday night.

Emporia State is not scheduled to compete next weekend, but will play host to the high school version of the ESU Relays on Friday, April 1 at Witten Track/Welch Stadium.  The next action for the Hornets will be the KT Woodman Invitational on April 7-9 at Wichita State.
