February 4, 2022-On the first day of the Bearcat Invite Emporia State track and field picked up a provisional qualifier and five personal bests.
 
Abigael Reid recorded her second provisional mark in the women's pentathlon.  She scored a personal best 3314 points to finish seventh in multi-event.  She had personal bests in the final two events of the five event competition.  She went 17-3.25 (5.26m) in the long jump and then won the 800m with another personal best of 2:25.82 as she moved up seven spots in the final two events.
 
The men's distance medley of Henry Rokusek, Jamill Phillips, Lue Gleason, and Justyn France ran a season's best of 10:28.70 to finish ninth.
 
Brandon Wilkes is in fifth place after day one of the men's heptathlon with 2,721 points.  He turned in a personal best of 21-4 (6.50m) to place sixth in the long jump. His best finish was a fourth with a mark of 40-7 (12.37m) in the shot put.
 
The main portion of the Bearcat Invitational will take place on Saturday in Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo.  Things will begin with day two of the men's heptathlon at 9:00 a.m. with running events scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and field events at 11:00 a.m.
