PLAYING FOR A CAUSE
Emporia State will be wearing teal jerseys and pink socks this weekend as they take on Central Missouri and Lincoln to help raise awareness of amniotic fluid embolisms.
LAST AT BAT
Emporia State split a doubleheader at Missouri Western on Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo.
The Hornets took an early lead and then won in extra innings as Emporia State posted a 4-3 victory in eight innings in game one.
Abbey Ward drove in the game winner with a sac fly in the top of the eighth.
The Hornets came back from down four runs to trail by one in the sixth before the Griffons scored five in the bottom of the sixth in a 9-3 Missouri Western win.
Kerrigan Dixon allowed nine runs, only three of them earned, on nine hits in 5.2 innings with two RBI as a hitter.
THE COACHES
April Huddleston-Rosales is 143-140 in her sixth year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 5-4 against Central Missouri and 6-2 against Lincoln.
Susan Anderson is 434-314 in her 15th season as head coach for the Jennies. She is 8-27 against Emporia State.
Christine Core is 19-78-1 in her third season at Lincoln. She is 1-1 against Emporia State.
