HOME OPENER
Emporia State will play host to the 5-States Classic at the Trusler Sports Complex.
LAST AT BAT
The Emporia State softball team got the bats out on Sunday, scoring 27 runs in two wins on the final day of the Ichabod Invitational at the Hummer Sports Complex in Topeka, Kan. The Hornets defeated McKendree 9-6 and run-ruled Minn.-Crookston 18-6 in five innings. Emporia State went 5-1 on the weekend and averaged nine runs a game.
THE COACH
April Huddleston-Rosales is 134-127 in her sixth year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 1-3 against Concordia-St. Paul and UMSL, 4-5 against SBU, 4-0 against Wayne State, 1-1 against Quincy and this is her first meeting with MSU-Moorhead.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are 5-1 on the year, their best start since opening the 2014 season 7-1.
Roni Rains was named to the All-Tournament team at the Ichabod Classic after batting .600 with six RBI and six runs scored.
Cassidy Beem hit .500 with a 1.588 OPS in five games in Topeka. She had two home runs, five RBI and seen runs scored. Freshman
Emma Furnish is leading the Hornets with nine runs scored. As a team Emporia State is third in the MIAA in batting with a .366 average.
Kelsey Phillips is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched and eight strikeouts. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Ichabod Classic.
Josie Harrison is 2-0 with a 3.71 ERA and team high nine strikeouts in 11.1 innings
ON DECK
The Hornets are scheduled to begin MIAA play on Friday, March 12 at Pittsburg State. First pitch of the double header at the PSU Softball Field is set for 2:00 p.m.
