LAST NON-CON
Emporia State travels to Kansas City, Mo. to take on Rockhurst in the final non-conference action of the 2021 regular season.

LAST AT BAT
Emporia State won three of four games over the weekend, sweeping Neb.-Kearney and splitting with Fort Hays State.
Against the Lopers Kelsey Phillips tossed a two hit shutout in the 2-0 Hornet win in the matinee. She took a no hitter into the fifth inning finished with seven strikeouts and only two walks. Josie Harrison went the distance for her first shutout of the year in a 5-0 Hornet win in the nightcap.
Against the Tigers Phillips tossed her second straight shutout as Emporia State won the opener 5-0. She scattered seven hits over 7.0 innings with no walks and one strikeout in the circle and was three for three with three RBI at the plate. The Hornet pitching staff saw their string of scoreless innings stop at 23.0 when the Tigers scored four runs in the top of the second the way to a 7-5 Fort Hays State win in the final game.

THE COACHES
April Huddleston-Rosales is 142-135 in her sixth year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 2-0 against Rockhurst.
Bailey Wittenauer is 66-70 in her fourth year as head coach for the Hawks.  She is 0-2 against Emporia State.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are 13-9 on the year, 3-3 in the MIAA. They are batting .286 with a 3.29 team ERA and .973 fielding percentage. Roni Raines is second in the MIAA with a .567 on-base percentage and third in batting with a .440 average. Emma Furnish is tied for second in triples with three and is eighth with 19 runs. Kelsey Phillips is second in the MIAA with a 1.42 ERA.

KNOW THE FOE
Rockhurst is 12-8, 7-5 in the GLVC. They are batting .299 with a 1.79 ERA and .963 team fielding percentage. Emily Clark is batting .403 with five home runs and 11 RBI while Lauren Marks has four homers and 13 RBI. Lexie Storrer is 9-3 with a 1.03 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 67.2 innings.  

SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the all-time series 7-0. They have never met at the Trusler Sports Complex and this will be the first meeting in Kansas City since 2009.

LAST AT BATS
 Kelsey Phillips tossed a four hit shutout and five different Hornet batters scored in a 5-0 Emporia State win in Topeka.  Phillips retired nine of the final ten Hawk batters to pick up the win.  
 
ON DECK
The Hornets travel to Northwest Missouri on Friday. First pitch from Maryville, Mo. is set for 2:00 p.m.
