LET'S GET STARTED
Emporia State travels to Mankato, Minn. to take part in the Mankato Dome Tourney The Hornets will play Concordia-St.Paul and Minnesota State twice and Lewis once.

THE COACHES
April Huddleston-Rosales is 113-117 in her fifth year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 0-2 against Concordia-St.Paul, 1-3 against Minnesota State, and 1-0 against Lewis.
Bob Bartel is 430-371 in his 16th year as head coach at Concordia-St.Paul.
Lori Meyer is 1,230-687-3 in her 36th year as head coach at Minnesota State.
Becky Pearl is 367-377 in her 16th year as head coach at Lewis.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State was 28-28 last season with a 14-12 record in MIAA play. They were one game short of advancing to their third straight MIAA Tournament Championship game. The Hornets are set to return six position players that started at least 45 games last year and eight total with at least 24 starts in 2019. In the circle three pitchers that earned over half of their wins a year ago return in Brylie Bassett, Kelsey Phillips and Sydney Righi.  
Biondo was named Second-Team All-MIAA at designated player.  She was second in the MIAA in stolen bases with 28 and eighth with four triples. She hit .348 with 34 runs and 27 RBI in 50 games with 45 starts.
Steeby was named honorable mention All-MIAA at shortstop. She was third in the MIAA in home runs and stolen bases, ranked fourth in runs scored, fifth in RBI, sixth in slugging percentage and triples, and was tenth in on base percentage. She had a .369 batting average with a team high 48 runs, 13 home runs and 47 RBI. She also stole 27 bases and had a .707 slugging percentage on the year.
Beem earned honorable mention All-MIAA at catcher. She was eighth in the MIAA with nine home runs last year. She hit .255 with six doubles, a triple, 29 runs scored and 31 RBI in 55 starts.

KNOW THE FOE
Concordia-St.Paul was 33-20 last season and slated for sixth in the NSIC this year.
Minnesota State was 37-19 last year and are picked to finish third in the NSIC.
Lewis was 22-30 last year and are picked to finish tenth in the GLVC this year.

ON DECK
The Hornets travel to Arkansas for the Alvy Early Memorial Classic in Bentonville next weekend. They will play Quincy, Henderson State, Harding and Southwest Baptist.
