STAYING ALIVE
Sixth seeded Emporia State takes on eighth seeded Northeastern State.
LAST AT BAT
Hannah Steeby hit her third home run in as many games as Emporia State defeated Central Missouri 6-1 to stay alive. Steeby hit a two run homer in the bottom of the first to get Emporia State on the board. Destiny Ojigoh made it 3-0 with a solo home run in the bottom of the second. Central Missouri scored one in the top of the third. In the bottom of the thirdUCM's throw to try and get Kenzie Garvin stealing third was wild, allowing her to score to make it 4-1. Emporia State got a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a two run single by Brittanie Shepherd. Steeby was three for three with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored. Mesler allowed one run on five hits with eight strike outs.
THE COACHES
April Huddleston-Rosales is 112-116 in her fourth year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 10-4 in the MIAA Tournament. She is 4-4 against Northeastern State and this is her first meeting with the RiverHawks in MIAA Tournament play.
Clay Davis is 190-187 in his seventh year as head coach for the RiverHawks. He is 9-8 against Emporia State with a 2-1 record against the Hornets in MIAA Tourney play.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 27-27 overall and finished 14-12 in the MIAA. They are the sixth seed in the MIAA Tournament. As a team the Hornets are batting .282 with a 3.68 team ERA. Hannah Steeby is the only player in the top five of the MIAA with 13 home runs and 26 stolen bases. In the circle Montana Mesler is third in the MIAA with 144 strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State is 28-26 and finished 14-12 in the MIAA. They are the eight seed in the MIAA Tournament. As a team the RiverHawks are hitting .267 and have a 3.65 team ERA. Gail Young is second in the MIAA in wins with 19 and ranks fifth with 115 strikeouts. Haley Acrey is eighth in the league in home runs with nine.
SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the all-time series with the RiverHawks 28-24 while Northeastern State has won two of three in MIAA turney play.

Emporia State swept the RiverHawks, winning 4-2 in game one and 10-1 in game two in Tahlequah. Cassidy Beem was four for six with three homers in the doubleheader.
