BACK IN MIAA ACTION
After hosting another impromptu tournament in Emporia this past weekend, the Hornets get back into MIAA play with doubleheaders against Lindenwood and Lincoln.  The Hornets travel to St. Charles, Mo. to face the Lions on March 23 and then to Jefferson City, Mo. on March 24 to play the Blue Tigers.    

LAST AT BAT 
Emporia State fell 8-7 against #7 Winona State in 11 innings.  The Hornets had seven runs on ten hits with one error in the finale of the ESU St. Patrick's Classic. Destiny Ojigoh was three for five with three RBI.  Kenzie Garvin also had three hits in five at bats for the Hornets.  Caitlin VanVleck had two runs scored and two walks in the game. Montana Mesler pitched five innings and struck out three, while Kelsey Phillips had three strikeouts in six innings for the Hornets.

THE COACHES 
April Huddleston-Rosales is 65-76 in her third year as the head coach at Emporia State. She served as an assistant for seven seasons. She was a member of both the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008, and was named First Team All-MIAA at shortstop her senior year.  She is 4-0 against Lindenwood and 3-1 against Lincoln as head coach for the Hornets.
Liz Kelly is 35-38 in her second year as head coach for Lindenwood.  She is 0-2 against Emporia State.
Chad Kerr is 13-118 in his third year at Lincoln.  He is 1-3 against Emporia State.  
ABOUT THE HORNETS 
Emporia State is 10-18 overall and 2-4 in the MIAA.  The Hornets are hitting .303 as a team with a 5.10 ERA. They lead the MIAA and rank 22nd nationally with 61 stolen bases in 28 games. The Hornets are third in the MIAA with 40 doubles this season. Danielle Sprinkle leads the Hornets with 31 hits on a .378 batting average. She leads the MIAA and is ranked tenth nationally with 12 doubles and has 25 RBI and four home runs on the season.  Montana Mesler has struck out 64 hitters in 90 innings pitched.

SCOUTING LINDENWOOD
The Lions have a 14-12 overall record and are 3-5 in the MIAA.  Lindenwood has hit 124 RBI as a team which ranks fourth in the conference.  Stormee Galka is third in the MIAA with nine complete games pitched, while hitting .382 with 23 runs scored.  The Hornets lead the all-time series 12-1.

SCOUTING LINCOLN
The Blue Tigers are 3-21 on the year and 0-8 in conference play.  As a team, the Blue Tigers are hitting .286 with 113 runs scored on 180 hits.  Jordan Lawson is third in the MIAA with ten doubles on the season.  This will be the 30th meeting between the two teams with the Hornets leading the all-time series 28-1.

Emporia State returns home to Trusler on Wednesday, March 28 for a midweek doubleheader against Northeastern St.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
