MIAA HOME OPENER
After opening conference play on the road, Emporia State will host their first MIAA conference matches on Friday against Northeastern State and Sunday against Central Oklahoma.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets finished in a 1-1 draw at Nebraska Kearney September, 22. In the double overtime match, the Hornets controlled the first half and took a 1-0 lead into half time on a goal from Leah Mettam from the top of the box in the 23rd minute of the match. The Lopers tied the match in the 83rd minute when molly Willis scored on an assist from Kelsie Lenn. Emporia State had an opportunity to take the lead at 109:51 on a shot by Ashton Taylor that missed high.
Emporia State fell at Fort Hays State on September 24. The Hornets were out shot by the Tigers 18-7 in the 2-0 loss. Both of Ft. Hays States goals came in the second half. The first goal was scored by Kylie Thomas on a header goal assisted by Darby Hirsch in the 73rd minute. Goal two was scored by Eden Stoddard in the 87th minute on an assist from Kylie Thomas.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 44-56-19 in his seventh year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 103-79-21 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He is 3-4-0 against Northeastern State and 1-3-2 against Central Oklahoma.
Chase Wooten is 88-40-12 in his eighth year at Northeastern State. He is 3-1-2 against Emporia State.
Mike Cook is 284-106-28 in his 18th year at Central Oklahoma. He is 5-1-2 against Emporia State.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-3-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in the MIAA. The Hornets have outscored opponents 10-9 dispite being outshot 101-87 on the season. The Hornets are led by Ashlynn Summar with three goals and Kennedy Hoffman with two. Leah Mettam, Tanna Bennefiel, Erica Self and Shelby Keyes each add one. In goal, Bethany Reeves has recorded two shut-outs.

Central Oklahoma is 4-4-0 on the season, 1-0 in the MIAA. The Bronchos have outshot opponents 107-77 and outscored them 28-14. The Bronchos have 13 players with at least one goal and seven with multiple goals led by Kelsie Eason, Mikayla Lowery, and Morgan Cherry each with four goals. In goal, Kaitlyn Asher has 18 saves on the season and Ally Salls ads 12.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE BRONCHOS
Emporia State fell 2-0 to Central Oklahoma in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The two teams played to a scoreless first half before Katie Killion gave UCO a 1-0 lead just 1:21 into the second half. It was her ninth goal of the season. The Brochos made it 2-0 in the 70th minute when Caitlin Moore scored off an assist from Kenzie Sublett.
UP NEXT
Emporia State will travel to Bolivar, Mo. to take on Southwest Baptist on Friday October 6 and then go to Warrensburg to take on #3 Central Missouri on Sunday October 8.
