Hornet Soccer Soars Past Jets 3-0 on Friday

Emporia State picked up their fourth shutout in the past five matches

October 9, 2026 - Emporia State soccer shutout Newman 3-0 on Friday afternoon as the Hornets picked up their fourth shutout in their last five outings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emporia State started the match going against the breeze, but still managed to jump in front of Newman just four minutes in.

In the Hornets' first attacking opportunity, Madeline Bracy gained control near the center circle and raced forward being playing Megan Kephart in behind the defense.Kephart then needed just one touch to gain control before firing past the keeper on her second to put Emporia State ahead 1-0.

Just over 10 minutes later, the lead doubled for the Hornets as Ella Favot found the back of the net. Taylor McFalls had control down the right wing, and eventually found the feet of Favot in the center. Favot then used her left to beat the keeper to the bottom right to make the score 2-0.

The Hornets tallied nine more shots over the final half hour of first half action, but the score remained 2-0 heading into the halftime break.

Following the intermission, the attacking action for either side was absent for the first 14 minutes until a shot from Taylor McFalls forced a save and resulted in an Emporia State corner. On the ensuing set piece, Ella Favot played the corner into the box and the ball found the foot of Peyton Pipes who converted the opportunity to extend the lead to 3-0.

With the wind at their back, the Hornets continued to apply the pressure, adding six more shots to their tally but were kept from adding another as they saw out a 3-0 win over the Jets, their fourth shutout of the season and their fourth in the past five matches.
