October 4, 2026 - Emporia State surrendered a goal early in the second half as they fell 1-0 against Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half between the Hornets and Bronchos closely resembled to the last two matches for Emporia State, as neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. Emporia State put themselves on the front foot to open the match, as the Hornets tallied the first four shots, including three that forced a save from the Central Oklahoma goalkeeper. The Hornets ended the first half with a slight 8-6 edge in shots.
Following the break, Emporia State again had the first opportunity, as they forced another save in the 50th minute. Just two minutes later, the Bronchos found the goal to take a 1-0 lead. Both the Hornets and Bronchos applied the pressure after the goal as Emporia State looked for the response and Central Oklahoma looked to double their lead. The Hornets tallied nine second-half shots, but were unable to find the equalizer and the Bronchos ended up with the 1-0 win.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State finished with a 17-16 edge on the Bronchos in shots, while tallying eight shots on goal compared to seven for the hosts.
