Box Score 2 February 11, 2017 – The Emporia State softball team split day two of the ASU George McCorkle Challenge, defeating Texas A&M International 1-0 in game one and falling 8-3 to Angelo State in game two.
TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
The first four innings were scoreless between the Hornets and the Dustdevils when Katie Yoakum sac flied out to plate McKenna Davis and take the 1-0 lead that would give them a win. Eryn Stockman pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits and one walk with six strikeouts.
ANGELO STATE
Angelo State took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Emporia State would answer with a run in the top of the third. Davis doubled down the left field line, sending Caitlin VanVleck home to tie the game 1-1. The Rambelles had another three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Hornets had another two runs in the top of the fourth to trail 4-3. Marly Carmona singled to center field to score Sarah Glass followed by Katy Rae Nordman sac flying to send Jacie Stephens home. Another four runs in the sixth inning by Angelo State gave them an 8-3 win over Emporia State.

The Hornets finish play in the ASU George McCorkle Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 12. Emporia state will face Adams State at 10:00 a.m. and Texas A&M International at 2:45 p.m.
