November 9, 2017- Emporia State fell in straight sets to #9 Central Oklahoma on Thursday. The Hornets fall to 6-11 in the MIAA with the loss.
In a match that saw 26 tie scores and 12 lead changes the Hornets were unable to overcome the deficit against the #9 Bronchos. Set one saw six tie scores and two lead changes before the Bronchos finished the set 25-22 over the Hornets. The Hornets battled back in set two forcing 12 tie scores and six lead changes before falling 25-19 in the set. In set three the Bronchos took control of the set after an early eight tie scores and four lead changes to win 25-16.
The Hornets were led in hitting by Tatum Graves with ten kills on .769 hitting percentage followed by Jamie Hauptman with seven kills. Yuchen Du led the Hornets with 21 assists while Emma Dixon added seven. The Hornets were led by Allie Maloney with 12 digs followed by Du with nine and Kylie Acebedo with seven.
The Hornets will be back in action on Friday November 10 as they take on Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan.
