November 5, 2017- Emporia State volleyball fell Sunday in straight sets to Lindenwood (25-20, 25-20, 25-20). The Hornets fall to 6-10 in the MIAA with the loss.
In a match that saw 15 tie scores and 6 lead changes, the Hornets were unable to overcome the deficit against the Lions. In set one there were two tie scores but the Lions controlled the set ending with a 25-20 victory. Set two saw five tie scores ending with the same outcome, 25-20 in favor of the Lions. Set three had eight tie scores and six lead changes but the Lions again finished the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
The Hornets were led by Mikayla Simons with eight kills followed by Yuchen Du with six kills and Jordan Evans, Valerie Golder and Jamie Hauptman with five each. Du led all players with 24 assists. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 11 digs followed by Du with eight.
The Hornets will be back in action on Thursday November 9 as they travel to Edmond, Okla. to face Central Oklahoma.
