October 6, 2017- Emporia State volleyball falls in straight sets to #8 Central Oklahoma (25-16, 25-21, 25-20). The Hornets are now 10-9 on the season, 2-4 in the MIAA.
In the opening set the Bronchos took the lead early and never allowed the Hornets to gain advantage. The Hornets were able to tie the set five times but the Bronchos would go on to win set one 25-16. The Hornets started set two with a 3-0 run before the Bronchos took over and went on to a 25-21 victory in the set. Set three saw nine tie scores and four lead changes as the Hornets battled with the Bronchos but would eventually fall 25-20 in the set and 3-0 in the match.
The Hornets were led by Tatum Graves with 13 kills on .458 hitting percentage joined in double digits by Karly Patton with 10. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 22 assists while Yuchen Du added 16. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 14 digs followed by Dixon with 8.
The Hornets are back in action Saturday, October 7 as they take on Pittsburg State at 7:00 p.m. in William L. White Auditorium.
