October 21, 2017- Emporia State volleyball fell in straight sets to Northwest Missouri (25-12, 25-23, 25-23). The Hornets are now 13-11 on the season, 5-6 in the MIAA.
In the opening set set the Bearcats took control early and cruised to a 25-12 set win. The Hornets battled back to keep set two close but were unable to win the set falling 25-23. In set three the Bearcats were again able to hold off the attack from the Hornets to with the set 25-23 again and take the match 3-0.
The Hornets were led in hitting by Yuchen Du with 10 kills on .292 hitting percentage followed by Karly Patton with nine. Du also led the Hornets with 19 assists while Emma Dixon added 16. Allie Maloney led all players with 12 digs followed by Julia Joseph with 9 and Du with 7. Du was just three digs away from her seventh triple double of the season.
The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday October 24 as they travel to Topeka, Kan. to take on Washburn in the 101st turnpike tussle.
