Hornets earn third tie in MIAA play

September 28, 2014- In a match that saw a total of 33 fouls, eight yellow cards and a red card, Emporia State and Lindenwood battled to a 1-1 tie at the EHS Pitch on Sunday.

Lindenwood scored the first goal of the match by Miranda Huebner in the 23rd minute. Grace Linton tied the game up in the 66th minute for the Hornets with the assist coming from Ally Taylor. 

At the end of regulation the Hornets had a chance to take the lead on a free kick due to a yellow card on Danielle Torry of Lindenwood. At the end of the second overtime Lindenwood had their chance at a victory due to a yellow card called on Grace Linton that led to a free kick with 10.5 seconds left in the game.

The match had a total of 33 fouls called with 19 on the Lions and 14 on the Hornets. There were eight yellow cards with four on each team and one red card on Emporia State. There was plenty of action in the match with the Lions taking 23 shots, 11 on goal while the Hornets had 15 shots with four on goal. Yaderia Rivera had a total of 10 saves in the match for Emporia State.

Emporia State will be back in action on Friday, October 3 at Northeastern State. Kick-off from Tahlequah, Okla. is set for 7 p.m.
