The Emporia State soccer team will be looking to improve to 3-0 for the first time in school history on their first trip to St. Cloud, Minn. since 2006 to take on St. Cloud State.
LAST TIME OUT
After posting the largest season opening margin of victory in their first match, the Emporia State soccer team continued their hot start with a 4-2 win over host Harding in the final match of the MIAA-GAC Challenge in Searcy, Ark. It is just the second time in school history the Hornets have opened a season 2-0 and the eight combined goals are the most ever in the first two games of a season.
Perri Mulder got the Hornets on the board early with a goal in the 20th minute off a free kick from Shannon Thomas. The lead would stay at 1-0 until Grace Linton toed one in from the right side off a pass from Jessica Schellhase in the 69th minute. That goal set off a flurry of activity with four more goals being scored in the next 13 minutes. Mallory Walden gave Emporia State a 3-0 lead in the 72nd minute off a short corner kick from Katie Straight before Haring finally got on the board with a goal from Ashley Sampson in the 76th minute. The Hornets responded less than three minutes later with a header from McKenzie Koch from an Elizabeth High assist for a 4-1 lead. The Bison then scored the final goal in the 82 minute by Audrey Adkison.
Yadira Rivera recorded the win, but saw her scoreless streak broken at 229:52 dating back to last year's MIAA Tournament semifinal.
