Box Score 2 May 11, 2014-The Emporia State softball team battled all the way through the loser's bracket to force a second championship game before falling 6-2 to Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Central Regional Tournament in Mankato, Minn. The Hornets forced the second game with a 7-2 win the first game of the day.
In the first game Emporia State took a 2-0 lead in the third and would never trail on the way to the win. Taylor Zordel was two for four with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Kaitlyn Caston walked five times, four of them intentional, and scored once while Andrea Piezuch was two for five with three RBI. Madison Rich scored two times and Stephanie Goodwin went three for five with a run scored.
In the circle Caston allowed six hits over the seven innings to pick up her 36th victory.
In game two the Hornets took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning before SEOSU rebounded for one in the bottom half of the fifth and four in the sixth.
At the plate Stephanie Goodwin was two for three with an RBI as Tricia Vogel scored a run. Laura Seeman went one for three with a run scored and a run batted in.
