SENIOR DAY  
The #6 Emporia State softball team takes on Southwest Baptist in the final regular season home games. It will be the final regular season appearance at Trusler for seniors Andrea Piezuch, Tricia Vogel and injured Taylor Reichard.

LAST AT BAT
The #5 Emporia State softball team scored eight runs in both games and needed everyone of them in the second game for a double header sweep of Central Missouri on Tuesday at the Trusler Sports Complex.  The Hornets won game one 8-3 and then scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win game two 8-7.

THE COACHES
Julie LeMaire is 118-40 in her third season at Emporia State. She was named MIAA Coach of the Year after going 20-0 in the MIAA in her first year. She is 210-116 in her sixth season as a head coach. She came to Emporia State after three years at Ft. Hays State.
Jim Flora is 14-26 in his first year at Southwest Baptist.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 38-9 on the year, 18-2 in the MIAA and ranked #6 in the NFCA National Poll.  The Hornets are ranked second in the MIAA with a .968 fielding percentage and lead the double plays in double plays. Emporia State is third in the MIAA in pitching with a 2.92 team ERA. Kaitlyn Caston is leading the nation with 27 wins on the season. The Hornets are fourth in the league in team hitting with a .314 batting average. Stephanie Goodwin is fifth in the MIAA with a .401 average and leads the conference in doubles with 15 on the season.    

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist is 14-26 overall and 6-14 in the MIAA.  They rank tenth in the MIAA in team pitching with a 4.32 team ERA, are 12th with a .948 fielding percentage and rank 13th in batting with a .241 average. Caitlyn Cooner is batting a team high .352 with seven home runs.

SERIES HISTORY
Emporia State leads the all-time series 40-8 and have won 20 in a row against Southwest Baptist. The last Bearcat victory was a 5-1 decision on April 11, 2003 on Cannon Field at the Trusler Sports Complex.

LAST TIME AGAINST SBU
Karley Schmelzer tossed her second no hitter of the year and Lauren Sharp followed with her second straight shut out as Emporia State swept Southwest Baptist in MIAA softball action in Bolivar.  The Hornets won game one 8-0 and posted an 11-0 win in game two.

FOUR YEARS LATER
Seniors Andrea Piezuch, Taylor Reichard and Tricia Vogel have been a part of 160 wins and just 56 losses during their careers. Reichard was injured and lost for the season in the Hornets win at Neb.-Kearney and will join her teammates during Senior Day ceremonies between games.

UP NEXT
The Hornets take their final regular season road trip of the season to St. Charles and Jefferson City, Mo.  Emporia State plays at Lindenwood in April 25 and then goes to Lincoln on April 26 for the final four games of the season. The MIAA Tournament will be held May 1-4 in Overland Park, Kan.
