HOME AGAIN  
The #5 Emporia State softball team returns to the Trusler Sports Complex for their final home stand of the regular season, beginning with a double header against defending national champion #22 Central Oklahoma on Friday.

LAST AT BAT
The #7 Emporia State softball team won the first game, but suffered their first MIAA loss of the season in the second last Saturday at Missouri Southern.  The Hornets won the matinee 7-3, but fell 9-7 in the nightcap. Tricia Vogel was two for four with three RBI and Kaitlyn Caston picked up her 24th victory in the first game. Eryn Stockman had a grand slam in the second game but took the loss in the circle.

THE COACHES
Julie LeMaire is 113-39 in her third season at Emporia State. She was named MIAA Coach of the Year after going 20-0 in the MIAA in her first year. She is 205-115 in her sixth season as a head coach. She came to Emporia State after three years at Ft. Hays State.
Cody White is 33-9 in his first year at Central Oklahoma.
Clay Davis is 51-44 in his second year at Northeastern State and 115-98 in his fourth season overall as a head coach.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 33-8 on the year, 13-1 in the MIAA and ranked #5 in the NFCA National Poll.  The Hornets are ranked second in the MIAA with a .968 fielding percentage and lead the league in double plays while ranking fifth nationally. Emporia State is fourth in the MIAA in both hitting and pitching with a .314 team batting average and 3.07 team ERA. The Hornets lead the league in total doubles and are ranked third in stolen bases per game. Kaitlyn Caston is leading the nation with 24 wins on the season.  

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma is 33-9 overall, 17-1 in the MIAA and ranked #22 in the NFCA Poll. They lead the MIAA in hitting and pitching with a .355 average and 1.60 ERA.

ABOUT THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State is 24-20 on the year and 10-8 in the MIAA. They are ranked seventh in pitching with a 3.87 ERA and have a team batting average of .275 to rank 11th in the MIAA

SERIES HISTORIES
The Hornets lead the all-time series 22-16. All but four of the last 17 games have been decided by two runs or less. This is the first trip to Trusler for the Bronchos since 2011, a span of 13 games between the two. Emporia State was the last team to defeat Central Oklahoma last season before they reeled off nine straight wins to capture the national championship.
Emporia State leads the all-time series 22-16 including a win in last year's MIAA Tournament.

LAST TIME AGAINST UCO
Kaitlyn Caston got her first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Central Oklahoma at the Ark.-Monticello 8-State Classic earlier this year. Taylor Reichard gave the Hornets all the run support they would need with a lead off home run in the top of the second

LAST TIME AGAINST NSU
Karley Schemelzer tossed a five hitter with 11 K's and Katie Huffman went three for three with two RBI as Emporia State opened the 2013 MIAA Tournament with a 6-1 victory over Northeastern State.

UP NEXT
The Hornets continue their home stand with a double header against Central Missouri on Tuesday, April 15 at Trusler. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
