March 13, 2014-The #21 Emporia State softball team will travel west for MIAA play beginning with a match-up of nationally ranked teams.  The Hornets play at #13 Ft. Hays State on Friday and will travel to Neb.-Kearney on Saturday.

The Hornets have five players batting over .310 led by Stephanie Goodwin's .348 average with 17 runs scored, three home runs and ten RBI.  Jessica Gragg is batting .318 with three homers, a team best 17 RBI and ten runs scored.  Kaitlyn Caston is 12-3 with a 2.65 ERA in the circle and has two home runs at the plate.  Eryn Stockman is 5-1 on the season with wins in her last five decisions.

Friday's double header in Hays will be a rematch of the 2013 MIAA Tournament Championship and NCAA Central Regional Tournament First Round games.  The Tigers are 14-5 on the year and 4-0 in the MIAA. Ft. Hays is 7-1 at home this year and will be wrapping up a ten game home stand. Courtney Dobson is hitting .393 with 10 RBI and 11 runs while Kelsey Kimminau is 6-1 with a 2.59 ERA in the circle.

The Hornets will travel to Kearney, Neb. on Saturday to take on Lopers.  Neb.-Kearney is 3-11 overall and 1-3 in the MIAA. The four MIAA games are their only home games of the year until this points. Samantha Liebmann is hitting .321 with nine RBI for the Lopers. Brittnie Kreiser has a 2.90 ERA, but is only 1-3 on the year.
