February 23, 2014-The #25 Emporia State softball team ended their trip to Minnesota on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to #8 Augustana.  The Hornets finished their trip 3-1 and are now 10-3 on the season.

Emporia State scored apair of unearned runs in the second inning to take the lead.  Tricia Vogel doubled and came home when Jessica Gragg reached on a throwing error from the short stop.  Gragg came around to score on Hannah Weingartner's single.

Augustana tied the score in the top of the fourth on a two RBI double from Abby Chandler.  Jordan Shaffer hit a two out home run in the top of the sixth to give the Vikings the win.

Kaitlyn Caston took the loss in the circle, giving up three runs on four hits with five walks and four strikeouts.

The Hornets are back in action next weekend at the Terri Mathis Tournament in Joplin, Mo.
