She was able to turn and threw Self out at third trying to advance for the inning ending double play.
The Beavers loaded the bases in the fifth on a walk and two singles. All-Region center fielder Jen Dixon then delivered a sacrifice fly to center that scored the lone run of the game. Self hit a two out double that just dropped fair down the left field line in the sixth. Cacy Williams followed with a walk but both were left on base to end Emporia State's last scoring threat.
Self was two for three with a double to move into a tie on the Emporia State career list with 52 doubles. Zordel and Jessica Brewer each had singles as well for the Hornets. Karley Schmelzer took the loss despite giving up just one run on three hits with six strike outs.
