Lindenwood got two runs on two hits and two walks in the first off of starter Lauren Sharp and were able to make it stand up in the night cap.  Schmelzer came on in relief after the first two batter reached in the third and got out of the inning thanks to some solid defense.  With a runner on third and no outs Tricia Vogel snared a ground ball and started a 5-2-6 put out to stop a run from scoring.  The next batter for the Lions hit a single to center and Jessica Brewer gunned down the runner trying to score from second for the second out of the inning.  Schmelzer got the final out via strikeout to end the threat. Lindenwood would only get one base runner the rest of the game

Emporia State had runners on base in every inning but could not come up with a key hit when needed to score a run.
