A PINK SENIOR WEEKEND  
Emporia State wraps up the regular season with Pink Out Saturday against Truman and Senior Sunday against Lindenwood at the Trusler Sports Complex.

THE?COACH
Julie LeMaire is 73-25 in her second season at Emporia State. She was named MIAA Coach of the Year after going 20-0 in the MIAA last season, winning the regular season and tournament championships. She is 165-102 in her fifth season as a head coach. She came to ESU after three years at Ft. Hays State and took the Tigers to the MIAA Tournament Championship game in 2011.

LAST AT BAT  
Emporia State moved their home field winning streak to eight games with a sweep of Newman on Monday at the Trusler Sports Complex.  After giving up a leadoff single, Karley Schmelzer retired the next 12 batters for the win and Lauren Sharp went the final 3.0 innings to pick up the save in a 7-0 win in game one. Stephanie Goodwin went three for three with three runs, two RBI, two doubles and a home run in the 9-1 win in the nightcap that was interrupted for 30 minutes by lightning.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 31-14, 16-8 in the MIAA. They are 5-5 over the last ten games and have split their last three MIAA double headers. The Hornets are hitting .309 as a team with an MIAA high 82 doubles. Taylor Zordel is hitting .403 with an MIAA best 52 runs. Cacy Williams hitting .397 with 14 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBI. Tricia Vogel leads the Hornets with 47 RBI. Andrea  Piezuch, Amanda Self, and Zordel all have 13 doubles while Vogel has 12. Karley Schmelzer is 24-6 with a 1.85 ERA and 158 strike outs in the circle.  She has eight shut outs with 23 complete games.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Truman is 26-15 on the season, 14-11 in the MIAA.  They are ranked third in the MIAA with a .319 team batting average. Kristin Grossman is batting .370 with ten home runs and 35 RBI. Hannah Washburn is 15-6 with a 2.55 ERA.

SERIES HISTORY WITH TSU
Emporia State leads the all-time series 36-26 and have won 18 in a row against Truman.

LAST TIME VS. TRUMAN
Emporia State pitchers combined to pitch 11 shutout innings as the Hornet softball team defeated Truman 10-0 and 8-0.  Karley Schmelzer tossed a two-hitter with eight strike outs in 5.0 innings in the first game. Jennifer Heerey scattered five hits over 6.0 innings with seven strike outs to get the win while Stephanie Goodwin was three of four with two runs, three RBI and a home run in game two.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Lindenwood is 19-27, 10-14 in the MIAA.  They have an MIAA low ten home runs as a team. Kendall Ryndak is batting .358 with 21 RBI and is 8-9 with a 4.42 ERA in a team high 17 starts this season.   

SERIES HISTORY WITH LWU
Emporia State has only played two games against Lindenwood, winning both in shutouts last year at Trusler.

LAST TIME VS. LINDENWOOD
The Hornets won 6-0 and 2-0 at Trusler last season.  Karley Schmelzer and Lauren Sharp combined on the first shutout, while Jennifer Heerey got her second straight shut out in the nightcap.

UP NEXT
Emporia State will open MIAA Tournament play on May 2. The Hornets have won eight of the last nine tourney titles.
