March 20, 2013-The Emporia State softball team continues MIAA action as they travel to Bolivar, Mo. on Wednesday to take on Southwest Baptist. First pitch of the double header is set for 1 p.m.
The defending MIAA Champion Hornets are 12-7 on the year and 2-2 in the MIAA. Red-shirt freshman Cacy Williams is batting .415 on the year with seven home runs and 18 RBI. Last year's MIAA Freshman of the Year Stephanie Goodwin is batting .404 with six homers and 21 RBI. Karley Schmelzer is 9-3 in the circle with a 2.71 ERA.
The Bearcats are 4-18 on the season and 0-4 in the MIAA. They do not have a player batting over .300 on the season while only three players have played in all 22 games.
After the SBU double header the Hornets are scheduled to head to St. Joseph, Mo. for six games in the MIAA-NSIC Crossover.
