March 14, 2013-The Emporia State softball team will make their home debut this weekend against #21 Ft. Hays State and Neb.-Kearney at the Trusler Sports Complex. The Hornets are 10-5 and have not played since March 3 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
As a team the Hornets are hitting .322 on the season and are ranked second in the MIAA in runs, doubles and home runs. Cacy Williams and Stephanie Goodwin are tied for third in total home runs with six each while Williams leads the MIAA in home runs per game at .46 round trippers per game.
In the circle Emporia State has a team ERA of 3.21 on the season. Karley Schmelzer is leading the MAA with eight wins and eight complete games and is ranked fourth in strike outs in the league.
Ft. Hays State is 13-3 on the year and ranked #21 in the NFCA National Poll. Neb.-Kearney is 4-9 on the year.
First pitch against the Tigers is set for 4 p.m. on Friday at the Tusler Sports Complex. The double header against the Lopers is set to begin at 12 noon on Saturday at Trusler.
