March 13, 2013-The Emporia State women's tennis team was shut out by NCAA Division I opponent Northern Illinois on Wednesday afternoon at the Milton Courts in Emporia. It was the first time Emporia State had hosted an out of state Division I program at the Milton Courts.
Both the #1 and #3 teams battled to 8-4 losses in double play. Alex Crowe was able to win six games in a 6-2, 6-4 loss at #5 singles while Somer Schmidt lost 6-1, 6-4 at #6 singles.
The Hornets are back in action on Friday at Rockhurst. First serve for both the men and women is set for 2 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
