April 29, 2026- Emporia State's #1 doubles team earned the highest MIAA honors for the Hornet women since 2011 as they were named First-Team All-MIAA in a vote of the Association's coaches.
Â
Junior
Giovanna Ferreira and freshman
Carla Paul Piquer were named First-Team All-MIAA in doubles. The duo went 6-3 in the MIAA with wins in their final four matches, including wins over the then #48 doubles team in the nation against Missouri Western and #32 duo from Northeastern State.
Â
This is the highest conference honor for an Emporia State women's player since Amanda Morris was named First-Team All-MIAA at #2 singles in 2011 and the first time a doubles team has earned First-Team honors since Morris and teammate Michelle Barger in 2010.
Â
Ferreira was also named Honorable Mention All-MIAA in singles. The Curitiba, Brazil native  went 4-5 at #1 singles in MIAA play with three of the losses coming in three sets and the other two to players ranked in the top 30 nationally.
