February 18, 2012-The Emporia State softball team won their first three games of the South Central Regional Shootout before the tournament was canceled due to rain in Durant, Okla. The Hornets have picked up a double header at Central Oklahoma on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
ESU defeated Henderson State 7-0 as Karley Schmelzer pitched a complete game no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. The Hornets picked up a 6-2 victory over Ouachita Baptist in their second game as Lauren Sharp went the distance in the circle.
The Hornets defeated Cameron 4-1 in the final game of the day, that did not get over until past midnight, as Jennifer Heerey recorded nine strikeouts.
