October 4, 2011 -- The Emporia State soccer team was outshot 20-11 but had only one less shot on goal than Northwest Missouri in the 2-1 loss. The Hornets took six total shots on goal while holding the Bearcats to seven shots on goal.
Victoria Von Mende scored the first of her two goals for the Bearcats in the 29th minute and added her second in the 32nd minute for a 2-0 lead. In the 84th minute Morgan Wheeler took a pass from Karson Wilson to scored her first career goal for the Hornets.
In goal Nikki Schmitz had five saves while the Bearcat's Kelsey Adams also finished with five.
ESU returns home on Oct. 6 to face Fort Hays State with a scheduled 4 p.m. kickoff from ESU Pitch.
