September 27, 2026 - Emporia State soccer played to a scoreless draw on the road against Northeastern State on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams had a shot in the first five minutes, and the Hornets were the first to put a shot on target as an attempt by Ella Favot was saved in the center of the goal. The opportunities for both sides were fairly limited over the first 45 minutes, as Emporia State had seven shots with three on target while the Riverhawks had three shots to force one save from Andrea Guzman in goal.
Following the halftime break, the offense picked up on both sides as the shot attempts added up in the second half. Emporia State had ten second half shots, with four forcing a save by the Riverhawks goalkeeper. Northeastern State also applied more pressure, tallying eight shots with three forcing a save by Guzman, but neither team was able to break through the deadlock as the score remained 0-0 for all 90 minutes.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State held a 17-11 shot advantage over Northeastern State, with a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. In goal, Andrea Guzman helped the Hornets to their second straight shutout as she picked up four saves on the afternoon.
