February 23, 2026 – Emporia State baseball earned a clean sweep of MIAA Baseball Athlete of the Week honors following their series sweep against the Lions over the weekend.
Noah Steele was named MIAA Hitter of the Week and
Colby Deaver earned his third MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
Noah Steele posted his best weekend so far this season, going 6-10 with two home runs, one doubles, ten RBI, six walks and nine runs scored in the series sweep over Arkansas-Fort Smith. Steele opened the scoring in the first inning in both first two games, first with a two-run homer in the series opener and then with an RBI single in game two. Game two featured a grand slam by Steele as he rolled to six RBI on the afternoon, setting a new career high.
Colby Deaver got the Saturday start down in Fort Smith and picked up where he left off in his previous three outings this season. Deaver struck out the side in the first, the fourth time he has struck out the side in his four appearances, which propelled him to nine strikeouts in 5.0 innings, while allowing just three hits and an unearned run. Deaver has now tallied 23.0 innings without an earned run to begin the season and has 35 strikeouts with just two walks allowed.
Emporia State will take on Northwest Missouri in their home opening series from the Trusler Sports Complex on February 27-March 1. First pitch in the series opener on Friday, February 27 is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
