May 10, 2026 - Emporia State baseball ends their season with a 37-16 record, the most wins since 2017 after the release of the Division II Baseball Tournament bracket on Sunday night.

The Hornets were kept outside of the Central Regional despite winning 37 games and advancing to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game on Saturday. Emporia State knocked off Missouri Southern, the seventh seed in the region, in the MIAA Quarterfinals 4-2 on Thursday, May 7 in Edmond.

Emporia State ranked higher than the Lions in the KPI, RPI and NET, while splitting the season series 2-2 after the Hornets' win on Thursday.

The Hornets' 37 wins overall, and 22 wins in the MIAA regular season were both the most since 2017. Emporia State also went 12-1 to open the season, which was the best start for Emporia State since 2011.

Emporia State also put four players on All-MIAA First Team, which was the most since the 2015 season as Colby Deaver, Logan Myers, Noah Steele and Grant Huffman were selected. Colby Deaver was the MIAA Pitcher of the Year while Evan Abbott was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year.
