May 14, 2026 - For the second time this season,
Colby Deaver has been named the NCBWA Pitcher of the Week following his dominant performance against Missouri Southern in the MIAA Quarterfinals in Edmond last week.
The sophomore from Blue Springs, Mo. tossed his second complete game this season, as he allowed just two runs while striking out a career-high 16 batters against the Lions. The outing matches the most in a single-game in Division II this season, and was the second with ten or more on the yar for Deaver.
With the performance, Deaver capped off his season by ranking top five in six different pitching categories, including first in WHIP (0.82), second in wins (11), ERA (1.50) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.50), third in strikeouts (102), and fourth in walks per nine innings. (1.13).
Deaver helped Emporia State to a 37-16 record in 2026, which was the most wins for the Hornets since the 2017 season.
