MIAA Soccer Coaches Poll Released

August 15, 2025- The MIAA released their Preseason Soccer Coaches Poll, and the Hornets are picked tenth.
 
Central Missouri is slated in first with four first-place votes and 132 points with Central Oklahoma is just behind with 126 points and a  matching four first-place votes. Missouri Western is slated for third with 124 points while Washburn comes in fourth with 123 points despite an association high five first place votes.
 
The Hornets return five players who started at least ten matches last season. Mackenzi Goen started 16 matches last season and went 6-6-3 in goal with four shutouts. She ranks third in Emporia State history with a career 1.31 goals against average, is fifth with 189 career saves, ranks fourth with a .762 save percentage and has gone 22-13-10 with nine shutouts in 53 career games. Defenders Abby Bachman, Ruby Ryan and Aubrey Seltman led Emporia State in minutes played in the field last year. Megan Mahloch and Megan Jeremias are the returning leading scorers for the Hornets with three goals each.
 
The Hornets will begin exhibition play on Sunday, August 17 with a friendly at Butler CC.  Kick-off is set for 7:30 pm in El Dorado, Kan.  The regular season kicks off on Thursday, September 4 at Drury in Springfield, Mo.
