September 4, 2025-Emporia State opened the season at #14 Drury and outshot the Panthers on goal but could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to the Panthers.

The Panthers took the lead in the 23rd minute when the Hornets could not clear the ball cleanly. Keira Love took the ball on the right side and found Kadence Krempges in the middle of the box and she snuck the ball past
Mackenzi Goen for a 1-0 Drury lead.

The Hornets really pressed the action in the second half, outshooting the Panthers 6-5 in the final 45 minutes with a 4-2 edge on goal.
Morgan Davis had a chance at an equalizer in the 82nd minute off a free kick from
Abby Bachman but missed it to the right. Emporia State would get three corner kicks in the final three minutes but could not convert.

Megan Kephart led Emporia State with three shots, two on goal in 70 minutes.Â
Mackenzi Goen had five saves in goal for the Hornets.

Emporia State will remain in Springfield to take on #25 Maryville on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 12 noon.
