August 14, 2025-Emporia State soccer enters the 2025 season with a trio of goalkeepers led by senior
Mackenzi Goen who has played in 53 matches through her first three seasons.
Goen played started 16 matches last season and went 6-6-3 in goal with four shutouts. She ranks third in Emporia State history with a career 1.31 goals against average, is fifth with 189 career saves, ranks fourth with a .762 save percentage and has gone 22-13-10 with nine shutouts in 53 career games.
Goen will be backed up by a pair of freshmen.
Kadyn Gottman is from St. Louis, Mo. where she attended St. Piux X HS. Gottman also played for the St. Louis DA Girls Academy at the club level. Kadyn was a member of the 2022 State Runners-Up team for the Lancers, while also earning First Team All-District honors.
Anneli Chanthavong is originally from Stavanger, Norway and attended Jatta Upper Secondary School. She played for Hinna Football club in her hometown of Stavanger.
The Hornets will begin exhibition play on Sunday, August 17 with a friendly at Butler CC. Kick-off is set for 7:30 pm in El Dorado, Kan. The regular season kicks off on Thursday, September 4 at Drury in Springfield, Mo.
