MIAA High Six Emporia State Track & Field Men Named MIAA Scholar-Athletes

Hornet men and women combine for a total of 53 overall honorees

June 4, 2025-The Emporia State men had a league high six MIAA Scholar-Athletes to highlight 53 Emporia State track and field athletes that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments. A total of 30 men and 23 women were honored.
 
Bryson Turner has a 3.99 GPA as a sophomore in physical education and was joined by Braden Lipgens, a sophomore with a 3.76 GPA in business as members of the MIAA runner-up men's 4x400m relay team that earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors.
 
The men's 4x100m relay team finished third in the MIAA to produce three MIAA Scholar-Athletes. Isaac Tarango has a 3.80 GPA in health and human performance as a senior. Alden Mollerus is a sophomore with a 3.65 GPA in accounting. Ty Anderson is a junior business major with a 3.60 GPA.
 
Brooks Lowe has a 3.51 GPA in physical education and placed third in the MIAA in the men's javelin.
 
Abigael Reid Harelson has a 3.63 GPA in health and human performance and won the MIAA Championship in the women's 400m hurdles to earn Scholar-Athlete status for the women.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. The student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors from the 2024-25 season. 

The Emporia State women had two athletes earn the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. Mia Manley has a 4.00 GPA in as a senior in elementary education while Faith Paramore maintains a 4.00 GPA as a graduate student in sociology.
 
An Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
Emporia State had 30 male and 23 female returners named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2024-25 academic year in late June.
