February 7, 2025-Emporia State had four career bests in limited action on Friday night at the Bearcat Invite inside Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo.

Savannah Stewart went over the 11-foot mark for the first time in her career as she cleared 3.36m (11-0.25) to finish tenth in the women's pole vault.

Darren Klukas ran a career best 15:07.92 to place eighth in the men's 5000m for the best finish of the evening for the Hornets. Â
Dylan Hunter ran 15:34.68 to place 22nd, Treyton Laurance was 30th in 15:55.13 and
Gage Chapman finished in 52nd place with a time of 16:53.15.

Cooper Schroer and
Luke Gleason both had career bests in the men's 1000m. Schroer ran 2:33.66 to place 12th while Gleason finished in 15th place with a time of 2:34.38.

The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday for day two of the Bearcat Invite. Running events begin at 10:00 a.m. with the first field events scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
