MULTIPLE CHANCES
Emporia State will send a group of multi-event athletes to Colorado for the CRC Pre-Holiday Invitational hosted by UC-Colorado Springs.
LAST LAP
Emporia State had an event champion, a school record, six runner-up finishes, and ten provisional qualifiers at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.
After sitting out most of last year
Mele Taula came up with and event championship, a runner-up finish and two provisional qualifiers for the Hornet women. She won the weight throw with a provisional qualifier and meet record of 17.48m (57-04.25) while finishing second with a provisional mark of 13.75m (45-01.50) in the shot put.
Stella Agbokpah turned in top two performances in two events for the Hornets, both of them provisional qualifiers. She set a school record with a time of 24.43 to finish second in the 200m She broke Shannon Butler's school record of 24.81 that was set at the 2006 NCAA Championships. She ran the second best 60m at ESU in 7.63 to finish sixth.
Lou Dumas ran 8.84 to place second in Topeka and rank fifth all-time in the 60m hurdles for the Hornets.
Brooklyn Nolte had a runner-up finish as she ran 19:10.37 to place second in the 5000m.
Zach Sulzen-Watson led a 1-2 finish for the Emporia State men in the shot put. He had a mark of 16.68m (54-08.75) to win it while
Connor Deters went 16.48m (54-01.00) to place second. Both of them were provisional qualifiers.
Ezekiel Seamster had a pair of provisional qualifiers that are ranked in the top five all-time at Emporia State. He rank 6.75 in the prelims of the 60m and was joined in the finals by
Ty Anderson who ran 6.81 as both of them hit the provisional qualifying mark. Seamster would run another provisional of 6.80 to finish fourth in the finals.
Seamster led two Hornets with provisionals in the 200m as well. He ran 21.48 to place fifth while
Israel Domeh ran 21.55 to place tenth. Seamster is now ranked fifth all-time at Emporia State in both the 60m and 200m.
Cooper Schroer placed second with a time of 1:55.51 in the men's 800m.
THE COACH
Seth Mischke is in his third year as the head coach for the Emporia State track and field programs. The Hornets have produced six MIAA individual champions and seven All-Americans in the first two years under his leadership. Before coming to Emporia State he spent one year at Chadron State. Eagle throwers earned five All-America awards and four RMAC Championships. Prior to Chadron State, Mischke spent 11 seasons as the head track and field coach at Black Hills State University. The Yellow Jackets produced two individual national champions, 18 All-America earners, 18 conference champions, and more than 100 All-RMAC honorees under his guidance. Mischke was the head coach at St. Cloud State for 12 years. During his tenure at SCSU, the Huskies had 44 All-Americans and one national champion.
LAST TIME AT PRE-HOLIDAY
Jonah Remsberg turned in the second best heptathlon score in Emporia State history at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi in Colorado Springs, Colo. Remsberg scored 5,213 points to place sixth overall in the seven event competition. He was the third ranked Division II finisher at the meet.
Luke Grace was 13th overall with 4,702 points while
Coby Smith scored 4,612 points to place 14th overall.
Isabella Davie finished fifth in the women's pentathlon with 3,129 points. She was the second Division II finisher in the field of 23 competitors to start the five event competition. Isabeel Vikoler was seventh overall with 2,966 points while
Scarlett Begley placed 11th with 2,871 points.
UP NEXT
After the trip to Colorado, the Hornets will take a break for the holidays. Emporia State is set to return to action on January 24 at the Bob Theel Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
THAT'S A LOT
Emporia State returns all of the athletes that had a provisional qualifying mark during last year's indoor season. The Hornets had a total of 20 provisional marks on the season. There are 12 men and three women that hit provisional marks in a total of 12 events for the Hornets last year.
HORNET RETURNING PROVISIONALS
Ty Anderson was ranked 11th in the nation in the 60m after running a school record 6.68 in the prelims at the MIAA Championships. He finished eighth in the finals with a time of 6.75 at the MIAA Championships. He placed tenth in the 60m at the 2025 Indoor Championships. He was also ranked 35th in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 7.29m (23-11) at the MIAA Championships and 40th nationally with a time of 21.42 in the 200m at the Washburn Open.
Jonah Remsberg was ranked tenth in the nation after winning the MIAA Championship in the heptathlon with 5,265 points. He is ranked second all-time at Emporia State in the heptathlon. He was also ranked 46th in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 7.23m (23-8.75) during his heptathlon in Colorado Springs.
Connor Deters was 20th in the nation with a mark of 17.38m (57-0.25) in the men's shot put at the Bearcat Invite.
Emmanuel Dukpe was 24th in the nation in the men's 400m after running 47.44 at the MIAA Championships.
Luke Grace scored a 5,135 points at the MIAA Championships heptathlon to rank 25th in the nation.
Israel Domeh ran 21.26 in the men's 200m at the MIAA Championships to rank 26th in the nation. He turned in a 48.09 at the Bearcat Invite to rank 61st in the nation in the men's 400m.
Max Neeley went 4.93m (16-2.00) at the Ichabod Invitational to rank 27th in the nation.
Trenden Collins cleared 2.04m (6-8.25) in the high jump at the Bearcat Invite while Will Allen cleared the same height at the MIAA Championships to both rank 38th nationally. Collins may end up redshirting the indoor season due to an injury suffered during football season.
Kingsley Bennett ran 6.77 at the MIAA Championships to rank 42nd in the nation.
The men's 4x400m relay team of

Braden Lipgens and Emmanuel Dupke ran 3:12.36 at the MIAA Championships to rank 17th in the nation.
Isabella Davie scored a total of 3,470 points in the pentathlon at the MIAA Championships. She was ranked 33rd in the nation.
Madison Vermetten threw 17.41m (57-1.50) in the weight throw at the Ichabod Invitational to rank 35th in the nation.
Mele Taula had a pair of provisional qualifiers before undergoing surgery. She was ranked 10th in the nation after going 15.15m (49-8.5) in the shot put at the WU Alumni Invite. At the Rust Buster she threw 17.20m (56-5.25) to rank 43rd nationally in the weight throw.
HORNETS IN THE ESU ALL-TIME TOP FIVE INDOORS
A total of 15 current Hornets have a combined for 21 top five marks in 12 events all-time at Emporia State indoors.
Ty Anderson is the school record holder in the men's 60m at 6.68 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fourth in the 200m with a 21.42 at the WU Open last year.
Jonah Remsberg is second in the men's heptathlon with 5265 points at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Emmanuel Dukpe is second in the men's 400m with a 47.44 at last year's MIAA Championships.
Israel Domeh is third in the men's 200m at 21.26 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fifth in the 400m with a 48.09 at last year's Bearcat Invitational.
Max Neeley is potentially redshirting this season but is third in the men's pole vault after going 4.93m (16-02) at the Ichabod Invitational last year.

Lou Dumas has the fifth best 60m hurdle time at 8.84 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.
IN THE MIAA
After the first week of competition Emporia State has the top mark in the MIAA in two events and are ranked second in three other events.
Ezekiel Seamster has the top time in the men's 200m at 21.48 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.
Jayda Harris went 11.32m (37-7.75) at the Washburn Alumni Invitational to rank first in the women's triple jump.
Israel Domeh is second in the men's 200m behind Seamster with a time of 21.55 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.
Cooper Schoer ranks second in the men's 800m after running 1:55.51 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.
Stella Agbokpah ran 24.42 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational to rank second in the women's 200m.
TRACK TOWN USA - DIVISION II STYLE
Emporia State's Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track will host the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It will be the fifth time that Welch Stadium has played host to the national championships.
Welch Stadium previously served as the host site for the National Championships in 1995, 1999, 2006, and 2024 with the first meet in 1995 bringing 450 student-athletes to Emporia. The 2026 meet is scheduled to bring 754 student-athletes, nearly 200 coaches and over 100 officials to the Flint Hills over the Memorial Day weekend.
The 2026 Championships are scheduled for May 21-23.
During championship week, the NCAA Committee will come to Emporia on Monday with the first practice time available on Tuesday. Wednesday of championship week will see a variety of coaches and officials meetings before the actual competition begin on Thursday. The meet will wrap up on Saturday evening.
After playing host to the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Emporia State was the site of the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Championships. It was the seventh time Welch Stadium has served as host of the conference championships since 1997.
