July 9, 2024-Emporia State's Tyler Kahmann is starting the 2024 season where he left off in 2023 – earning All-American honors.  The senior to be was named a First-Team Preseason All-American by the College Football Network this summer.

Kahmann was named Associated Press (AP), Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) and Don Hansen Football Gazette Second-Team All-American and was on the D2Football.com Elite 100 list.  The Haysville, Kan. native led the nation in touchdown catches with an Emporia State record 20 last season. He was ranked second in the nation in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and sixth in scoring, points scored and total touchdowns. He had 101 catches for 1,234 yards on the season. He was the only player in the NCAA at any level to have 100 catches, 1,000 receiving yards and 20 touchdown catches last season. His 34 touchdown catches are an Emporia State career record and rank second among active NCAA Division II players.

The Hornets are 18-6 over the last two seasons, the second-best record in the MIAA over that time.  Of the 22 position players that started the Heritage Bowl, Emporia State is set to return ten players on offense highlighted by All-American receiver Tyler Kahmann and seven on defense including All-MIAA defensive back Jaaron Joseph.  Last year was the eighth time in the last 11 seasons that Emporia State advanced to the post season.
