July 24, 2024-The Emporia State women's tennis team and seven individual players were recognized for their academic achievements by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Hornets were named an ITA All-Academic Team while Anastasia Pesic, Andrea Santiago, Angelina Gnezdilova, Giovann Ferreira, Paige Stranghoner, Perla Conde Vendrell and Sheriden Wichman were all named ITA Scholar Athletes.
 
To be named an ITA Scholar Athlete, the player needs a 3.50 GPA for the 2023-24 academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. The seven Hornets listed were tied for the second most by an MIAA school this year.
 
ITA All-Academic Teams need to have a combined GPA of 3.20 or higher based on all student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form.
 
In 2024, 759 Division II women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 112 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
