April 18, 2024-Emporia State had eight top ten finishes on the first day of the weather delayed KU Relays.

Asher Moen was the top placer for the Hornets on Thursday. He ran 9:49.13 to finish fourth in the men's 3000m steeplechase.

Aaron Hunt was fifth in the men's pole vault as he cleared 4.52m (14-10) while
Max Neeley got over 4.37m (14-4) to place sixth.

Savannah Stewart was sixth in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.05m (10-0) for the top women's finish for Emporia State.

Madison Vermetten threw 48.38m (158-9) to place seventh while
Kyra Ohl went 46.33m (152-0) to finish in ninth in the women's hammer.

Catherine Lyon was ninth with a time of 5:04.67 in the women's 1500m.Â
Makenzie Owings finished tenth in a time of 2:22.01 in the women's 800m.

The Hornets will continue competition at the 101
st Anniversary Running of the Kansas Relays on Friday starting at 10:15 a.m. at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan.
