March 15, 2024-Emporia State opened the outdoor track and field season at the University of Saint Mary Distance Festival on Friday in Leavenworth, Kan.
 
Henry Jones led the Hornets with a top ten finish in the men's 5000m run.  He ran a personal best of 15:03.64 to place sixth overall.
 
Catherine Lyon had the top finish for the Emporia State women placing 14^th with a time of 19:04.46 in the 5000m.
 
The rest of the Hornet track and field team will start the outdoor season on March 22 at the FHSU Spring Invite in Hays, Kan.
