Kellsey Trimble have announced this year's group of signees in the throwing events for the Hornets. The class consists of four women and two men all of whom rank in the top ten in their class in the state of Kansas.

"I'm impressed with the throws recruiting class. There is a strong level of talent and Kellsey did an outstanding job of bringing in a great group," said Blocker. "We have a rich tradition in the throwing events at Emporia State, and I'm excited for the future of that area."

Men
Brooks Lowe • Stillwell, KS • Blue Valley West HS
Lowe is ranked tenth in the nation in the javelin and was the Class 6A state runner-up this spring. His personal best of 205-1 was the third best throw in the state of Kansas and the second best by a senior this year. He had a personal best of 153-1 in the discus to rank 20th among Kansas seniors this spring. He was the KSHSAA Class 6A state champion at 220 pounds in wrestling for Blue Valley West HS and a Top 100 selection by Sports in Kansas for football. He will also play football for the Hornets.

Zach Sulzen-Watson • Topeka, KS • Washburn Rural HS
Sulzen-Watson was the Class 6A state runner-up in the discus and placed third in the shot put for Washburn Rural HS. His personal best of 172-10 in the discus ranks eighth among all classes in the state of Kansas while his 54-5.50 in the shot is ranked 15th in all classes. Both marks rank in the top ten of seniors in Kansas.

Women
Emma Seidl • Soloman, KS • Soloman HS/Iowa Central CC
Seidl earned All-American honors in the indoor shot put at Iowa Central CC this year with a seventh place finish. She placed 11th in the nation outdoors and has a collegiate personal best of 40-11.75 (12.49m) in the shot put. She was the Kansas Class 1A shot put state champion as a senior for Solomon HS in 2021. Her best of 42-10 was the third best girl's shot put mark in the state in all classes in 2021.

Tailynn Beutgenbach • McPherson, KS • McPherson HS
Beutgenbach was the Kansas Class 4A state runner-up in the shot put this spring for McPherson HS. Her personal best of 39-5.25 ranks 15th in all classes in the state of Kansas this year and is ninth among senior girls.

Madison Vermetten • Blue Rapids, KS • Valley Heights HS
Vermetten was third in the discus at the KSHSAA Class 2A state championships. Her personal best of 130-2 ranks 12th among all classes in the discus and was the fourth best throw by a senior this spring. She also qualified for the state meet and finished 11th in the 800m in May.

Bonnie Romig • Waverly, KS • Waverly HS
Romig placed seventh in Class 1A in the javelin and also qualified for the shot put at the state championships. She had a personal best of 124-2 in the javelin that ranked eighth among senior girls and 34th overall in all classes this year.
Recruits for the sprints, jumps and distance events will be announced later this summer.

The Emporia State women placed 46th in the team standings out of 65 teams that scored and 95 schools that had an entry at the Championships. There are a total of 255 NCAA Division II schools that sponsor women's track and field. Emporia State has had either the men or women score in every NCAA Outdoor Championship meet since 1994, a span of 27 straight meets.
