May 3, 2022-Emporia State's Alyssa Conway has been named the MIAA Female Field Athlete of the Week after sitting a school record at the weather shortened Alex Francis Classic in Hays on Friday.
 
The Topeka, Kan. native threw a school record 189-8 (57.81m) to win the hammer by over 14 feet. She broke her own school record of 189-1 set at last year's Drake Relays. She is currently ranked #1 in the MIAA in the hammer by nearly eight feet and is ranked #10 in the nation. It was her first official mark since coming off an injury that had kept her from throwing since the ESU Relays on March 26.
 
Conway and the rest of the Hornets will be in Welch Stadium/Witten Track this weekend as Emporia State plays host to the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  Events begin on Friday with the heptathlon and decathlon. Saturday will see finals in several field events and distance events on the track while Sunday will feature finals only in all events.
