March 19, 2021-Emporia State gave up ten runs in the first three innings to #6 Central Missouri and could not recover in a 15-1 loss in seven innings on Friday afternoon at the Trusler Sports Complex.

Jake Barton retired the Mules in order in the top of the first but the Mules scored six runs on five hits and a Hornet error in the top of the second. They followed with four runs on four hits in the third and another in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.Â
The Hornets finally got on the board in the fourth when
Quinn Cherry reached on an error and then scored on
Javier Pena's double to make it 11-1. Dusty Stroup answered for UCM with a two run homer in the top of the fifth. The Mules got their final two runs in the sixth thanks to a bases loaded error.

Barton went 3.0 innings, giving up ten runs, nine of them earned on nine hits with two strikeouts. The Hornets used a total of six pitchers on the day with five of them working an inning or less. Emporia State was held to just three hits on the day, getting singles from Chandler Bloomer and
Brady Michel and an RBI double by
Javier Pena.

The two teams will be back at it on Saturday for a double header starting at 12:00 p.m. on Glennen Field at the Trusler Sports Complex.
